Sugat S. Patel, M.D.
Medical Degree: The Ohio State University College of Medicine

Fellowship: Vitreoretinal Surgery, Vancouver General Hospital
Teaching: Dr. Patel is active in lecturing on retinal diseases and treatments at various optometric and ophthalmic continuing medical education programs. He also participates in medical education at The Ohio State University College of Medicine.
Research and Special Interests: At Henry Ford Eye Care services, Dr. Patel researched clinical applications of technology in the diagnosis and management of cystoid macular edema and glaucoma. His research involved confocal laser imaging systems such as the Retinal Thickness Analyzer and the Heidelberg Retinal Tomograph. At The Ohio State University, he was involved in the research and development of Radio-Immunoguided Surgery performed at the Arthur G. James Cancer and Research Institute.
Affiliations: Dr. Patel is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Ophthalmology, Ohio Ophthalmological Association and Ohio State Medical Association. He has volunteered for the Detroit Glaucoma and Diabetic Screenings.
Louis J. Chorich III, M.D.

Teaching: From 1998 to 2006, Dr. Chorich served as a full-time faculty member of The Ohio State University Department of Ophthalmology. He has been involved in the training of medical students, ophthalmology residents, and vitreoretinal fellows. He continues to participate in the teaching program as an Assistant Clinical Professor. Dr. Chorich has authored chapters in several ophthalmology textbooks and has contributed to a number of publications in medical journals. He lectures at both local and national ophthalmology conferences.
Research and Special Interests: Dr. Chorich has served as an investigator in a number of clinical research trials studying new treatments for macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and other retinal disorders. His other clinical interests include the diagnosis and treatment of uveitis (ocular inflammatory disorders), retinal vascular diseases and retinal detachment. Dr. Chorich has experience as a computer programmer and consultant. He maintains his programming skills and has a special interest in computer applications for ophthalmology.

Dino D. Klisovic, M.D.

Teaching: Dr. Klisovic served as a clinical instructor of residents and medical students at Tulane University. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at The Ohio State University.
Research: Dr. Klisovic’s research focuses on the molecular biology of uveal melanoma and intracellular signaling in diabetic retinopathy. He has published basic and clinical papers in this area. He has presented his research at numerous national and international ophthalmological meetings. In addition, Dr. Klisovic was awarded several prestigious national and regional awards for his research.
Clinical Interest: Diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, macular edema, complex retinal detachment, uveitis and ocular inflammatory diseases in children and adults, intraocular tumors.

Lisa M. Borkowski, M.D.

Teaching: Dr. Borkowski served as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at University of Illinois College of Medicine. In addition to her private practice, she gives lectures locally and nationally on a variety of retinal topics.
Research and Special Interests: Dr. Borkowski has publications in national journals on various retinal topics. She continues to participate in many organizations for the advancement of retinal diseases. Her clinical interests include diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, and macular edema.

Dominic M. Buzzacco, M.D.

Johnstone Kim, M.D.

He has been involved in the training of medical students, ophthalmology residents and vitreoretinal fellows. He has contributed to a number of publications and medical journals and lectures at both local and national ophthalmology conferences.

Vishal S. Parikh, M.D.

Teaching: Dr. Parikh participates in various optometric and ophthalmic continuing medical education programs by lecturing on retinal diseases and current treatment options. He has also authored multiple textbook chapters on retinal diseases and surgery. He is also active in training vitreoretinal surgical fellows at Midwest Retina.
Research and Special Interests: Dr. Parikh has published research articles in national journals and presented his research at national conferences on various retinal topics including hydroxychloroquine retinopathy screening, macular degeneration and small gauge vitrectomy.
His interests include macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and associated complications, retinal vascular diseases, retinal drug toxicity monitoring, vitreoretinal interface abnormalities (vitreomacular traction, epiretinal membrane, macular hole), retinal detachments, and complications related to cataract surgery
