Office Treatments and Surgery
At Midwest Retina, our experienced physicians use the most advanced technology and a patient-centered approach to create the best treatment plan for each patient. Our physicians consult regularly on challenging cases to design effective surgical plans. Surgery in an operating room may be necessary to repair retinal detachments, bleeding, scarring conditions, or trauma. Almost all of our surgeries are performed as an outpatient procedures at one of two ambulatory surgery centers. The most common procedure our physicians perform in the operating room is a pars plana vitrectomy. Below is a link to the American Society of Retinal Specialist fact sheet about vitrectomy for your convenience.
Fellowship Program
Vitreoretinal Surgery
MWR is excited to offer a two-year comprehensive fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery beginning July 2021 and ending July 2023. Fellows will rotate with seven physicians that come from a variety of different training backgrounds, including two physicians who have additional fellowship experience/interest in the treatment of uveitis and in the treatment of pediatric vitreoretinal conditions. After learning from and working alongside our physicians, the fellow will have gained a thorough understanding of the field and feel comfortable managing cases from the simple to the most complex.
